Carers’ break

PEOPLE with dementia can attend the new Cafe Club at Chadderton Wellbeing Centre, Burnley Street, while their carers enjoy a break.


It is open from 11.30am to 3pm on Wednesdays and is run by volunteers from the Friends of Dementia. People with memory loss can have a coffee and a chat while their carers use the library, sports facilities or go shopping.


CORPUS Christi Primary School, Stanley Road, has launched a scheme to encourage parents to give their children healthy packed lunches. Weekly awards will be given to the infant and junior pupil with the best lunches.



Parking bays for the disabled are to be introduced outside 33 Cypress Avenue, 77 Derby Street and 16 Wharf Street.



A TEAM of pupils from Radclyffe School, Hunt Lane, won the local Make it Enterprising competition, organised by the Manchester-based Manufacturing Institute, after taking part in a Dragons’ Den-style challenge to design a cake for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. They will now compete in the Greater Manchester final.



RECYCLE your unwanted clothes at Whitegate End Primary School, Butterworth Lane. It is holding a clothes collection on Friday in aid of school funds.



Christ Church Primary School, Crawley Way, holds its harvest service from 10am to 11am on Friday.



PUPILS from Newman College, Broadway, and Radclyffe, School, Hunt Lane, will take centre stage at the Contact Theatre, Manchester, where they will perform an abridged version of “Romeo and Juliet” and “A Midsummer Nights’ Dream” on November 6 and 7 respectively as part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival.
