GREATER Manchester’s first female detective chief superintendent is the guest speaker at the Chadderton HomeWatch meeting on Tuesday, September 8.
Jane Antrobus, from Oldham, retired in 2010 after 30 years in the force and went on to act in the TV drama “Crime Stories”. She is also involved in the charity Crimestoppers. The meeting takes place at Chadderton Wellbeing Centre, Burnley street, at 7.30pm.
TAKE a closer look at the stained glass window depicting local silk weavers, the original organ and the vestry when Healds Green Methodist Church, Healds Green, throws open its doors on Sunday, September 13. It is taking part in the national Heritage Open Day scheme from 1 to 6.30pm, and the day will finish with a service.
PARENTS who took part in a questionnaire about Kingfisher Special School, Foxdenton Lane, were overwhelmingly positive about the school. They said it was well managed, their children were well looked after and they would recommend Kingfisher to another parent.
HELP keep Chadderton clean by taking part in a community litter pick on Saturdsay, September 19. Volunteers should meet at South Chadderton Methodist Church, Thompson Lane, at 9.45am.
YEAR 9 pupils at Radclyffe School made dresses for the charity Dress A Girl Around the World, which send handmade clothes to children in developing countries.
PEOPLE who are retired can meet make friends and enjoy activities such as short mat bowls, pool, dominoes and crafts at Chadderton Community Church, Garforth Street, from 10.30am to 1.30pm on alternative Thursdays.
