Naylor: Oxford wanted it more

SCOTT Naylor was in no mood for making excuses after watching Oldham slip to their third defeat in four games against Tony Benson’s Oxford.
While lauding the efforts of young forwards like Josh Crowley, two-try Danny Langtree, Liam Thompson and Michael Ward, he said some players didn’t give 100 per cent.
Admitting to being “massively disappointed”, he conceded the side coached by his predecessor as Roughyeds’ head man had deserved to win.
He added: “Oxford came ready to play. They had a real good go at us. They had more enthusiasm and more desire than us and they got what they deserved — a win.
“If we had snatched it near the end, as we looked as though we might do at one point, it would have been the wrong result.
“You can’t put brave hearts and strong mentality into players when you are out on the training pitch . . . and unfortunately it’s not the first time this season I’ve felt the need to talk like that.
“Rugby league is tough, and you generally get what you deserve.
“In this case, Oxford tried harder than us and worked harder than us.
“Tony Benson will be very proud of his team for the effort they put in.”
