REVERED trainer Ben Lancaster is set for a hectic schedule in his Middleton gym as THREE of his exciting Oldham-based boxing prospects have taken up offers to turn professional.

Lancaster already has Failsworth's still undefeated top talent Danny Wright under his wing, but now middleweight hopeful Jack Kilgannon (21) is set to join the paid ranks after making his mark over a number of years amongst the amateurs.

Lancaster said of Royton-based Kilgannon: "Jack's definitely ready for a crack at the professional game.

"He's been at the gym training hard for 10 years now, and he's come on so much.

"He was a boys' club finalist last year, but then broke a rib just before qualifying for the senior ABAs.

"He's confident he can be successful and he's in demand for sparring.

"GOOD IMPRESSION"

"He's been in with Martin Murray and Jack Flatley in recent months and he's made a good impression."

Royton-based Joe Eko (24) will step up to the pro ranks in the lightweight division.

Lancaster said: "Joe's style certainly suits the professionals. He's another who has been with the gym a long time and the time is right for him now.

"To be honest we have struggled a bit to get him fights in the amateurs, so the decision to switch wasn't too difficult."

Last but certainly not least, Shaw-based Jack Rafferty (21) will join the paid ranks, initially in the welterweight division.

Lancaster said: "Jack is a real talent and can go a long way.

"He reached the ABA semi-finals before being done by a bad decision.

"That was a big blow, but that's what can happen in boxing.

"He has also been with me for a while and has lots going for him."

Kilgannon and Eko have both signed management and promotional contacts with Steve Wood from VIP Boxing.

They are both hoping to make their debuts on a VIP show in either late July or early August.

Rafferty, meanwhile, has signed up with London-based promoter Jason McCrory.

BOW

He is hoping to make his professional bow in September.

Lancaster added: "The stable is definitely building at the gym.

"All my four pro lads are excited about what's in store.

"It's not been a difficult decision for any of them to turn pro because it is becoming more and more difficult to match up the lads with good fights in the amateurs."
