DARTS:
OLDHAM’S town team won 6-4 at Burnley in the Lancashire GMC Super Eights Elite League.
They lost the first leg, but David Rawstron, who won 4-2 with a 79.81 average for every three darts thrown, levelled the scores.
It became 2-1 thanks to Mark McGeeney (4-1, 94.48) whose efforts included a spectacular 170 check-out.
When Dave Airey (4-2, 85.67) made it 3-1, Oldham looked to be cruising, but Burnley roared back to level the match once again before captain Paul Cartwright (4-1, 78.43) restored the visitors’ lead.
It became 4-4, at which point Oldham stepped up a gear and took the last two legs through John Downs (4-2, 83.01) and Steve Gallimore (4-1, 87.49).
Oldham’s next game is at home to Rochdale on Sunday week.
