The award-winning 18-hole golf course at Heaton Park, the par three pitch-and-putt course and the clubhouse, have all been closed.
Manchester council have stated that operators Mack Trading had 'ceased trading at all of its UK businesses'.
A number of other golf courses across the region and country run by the company have also closed.
The 18-hole public course at Heaton Park, which was voted the best municipal in Great Britain in 2005, was designed by a former Open champion and opened in 1912.
Mack Trading managed and operated both courses under a license agreement with Manchester council.
Heaton Park Golf Club members have lost use of the course.
The council have said it remained 'fully committed to ensuring that affordable, high-quality golf facilities are available at the park' and confirmed a new long-term operator would be sought.
The 5,755 yard-long course was designed by ex-British Open champion JH Taylor.
Over the years it has hosted a number of prestigious tournaments, both professional and amateur, as well as junior events backed by Sir Nick Faldo.
