Man arrested following Oldham robbery is released

A second man, aged 38 has now been released
A man has been charged following two armed robberies and an attempted robbery where a man was imprisoned in his own home.
Meanwhile, a second man also arrested in connection with robberies in Oldham and Middleton has been released.
John Rooney, aged 50, of no fixed abode, has been charged with:
One attempted robbery.
Two business robberies.
Driving whilst disqualified.
Driving with no insurance.
Possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
Possession of a class A drug (heroin).
Possession of a class B drug (cannabis).
He will appear at Stockport Magistrates Court today (Tuesday).
Last Thursday (October 11) police were called to an attempted robbery on Newbridge Lane in Stockport where a 61-year-old man had been tied up and assaulted in his own home.
At 5.20pm on Saturday (October 13) police were called to an armed robbery at a Post Office on Thornham Road in Oldham and then an armed robbery at a hair salon on Oldham Road in Middleton at 6pm.
A second man, aged 38 has now been released under investigation.
