Shop owner racially abused in Failsworth

An Oldham shop owner has been racially abused while having rubbish thrown at their premises by a gang of what Police are describing as “idiots” yobs.

Officers say they were called to Welcome Chip Shop on Alder Road in Failsworth following reports of a group of “idiots” were chucking rubbish at the store.

It happened at around 7.15pm on Saturday evening (12 January).

In a statement on Greater Manchester Police’s Failsworth and Hollinwood Facebook page, they’ve said: “at the welcome chip shop on alder rd opposite the right bells, a group of idiots have chucked rubbish at the shop and racially abused the owner. This was on Saturday evening at 7.15pm.

“The offenders were a group of youths, and the main offender was a black male, with a black hoody.

“Anyone around on Saturday see them, or know who they are?”
