Powercut hits Oldham

Residents had no power on Wednesday evening.
Hundreds of houses in Oldham have had to endure a night without power after it failed on Wednesday night (23 January) at around 9.30pm.
Electricity North West confirmed the power cut on their social media accounts with around five hundred homes affected in parts of Oldham and Wigan.
217 houses in the OL3 postcode, which includes Uppermill, Diggle, Dobcross, Delph and Denshaw, were affected.
Lack of power also hit 37 houses in the OL8 postcode, including Ashton, Failsworth and Oldham.
Electricity North West have said it was caused by a general fault in the network and their engineers are working to restore power as soon as possible.

For many the power cut came at the worst time with temperatures outside dropping to well below freezing.
Electricity North West have apologised for power cut to those affected with power expected to return to houses early on Thursday morning (24th January) if it hasn’t already.
