Oldham Council agreed to suspend the licence of Vibez 924, following a meeting of their licencing committee, after a report from Greater Manchester Police highlights a string of incidents including one where a man tried to get inside armed with two meat cleavers.
The venue, which is based at the junction of Horsedge Street and Yorkshire Street in Oldham Town Centre, confirmed the news of the suspension on their Facebook page, posting: “We would like to inform our customers that our licence has been suspended for 28 days pending the full review of our premises licence.”
“This is a result of the incident that took place outside our premises on Thursday 18th January 2019.”
“We are sorry for any inconvenience caused we hope to be back in the near future, watch our page for more information.”
Oldham Council have said they will now conduct a full review into the venue following the suspension.
Hours after the incident involving the man and two suspected meat cleavers, another report was made of a woman being run over outside the club by a reversing car following a fight involving a group of men.
The woman was also attacked during the incident, according to the police report, with officers saying she was lucky to avoid serious injury.
A full hearing is due to be held on Wednesday 20th February.
