If you walk in to an opticians and you see the BFG or Harry Potter - you'll normally be glad you're getting your eyes checked out.
But don't worry if that happens when you walk in to Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care on Market Street, Shaw, on World Book Day.
Staff will be raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society by holding a charity book sale on Thursday 7th March.
And to add to the fun the team will dress up as book characters. There is also a colouring competition for children which will run until 26 April, with the £1 entry fee going to the charity.
Branch manager Elaine Speight said: “Alzheimer’s affects a growing number of people in our community and there is a real need for continued research and support. Our book sale is a chance for us to raise funds and awareness for a cause we care about.”
Scrivens is supporting Alzheimer’s Society for a fifth successive year because there is evidence of a link between uncorrected hearing loss and dementia, including Alzheimer’s.
The partnership has raised nearly £85,000 to date. The family business, which was established in 1938, has 181 stores in England and Wales, and 1,100 employees.
