Oldham man attacked outside town centre pub

George Street in Oldham
Police responded to reports of an incident on George Street in Oldham, between the George Tavern and Spindles Shopping Centre at around 6pm on Saturday night (23rd February).
A cordon was put in place while officers began their investigation into what happened.
It’s believed a 22-year old man was assaulted, he was taken to hospital with what are being described as non-life-threatening injuries.
In a statement on their website, the George Tavern said: “Please be advised that GMP have currently sealed of part of George Square in front of the pub as a crime scene.”
“We are still open for business as usual and access to and from the pub is still available.”
“We anticipate that this will be removed soon.”
“Thank you for your understanding.”
Greater Manchester Police confirmed the incident in a statement and said that, so far, no one had been arrested in connection with what happened but they are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
