Pair arrested over funeral home fraud

Police, Fire and Ambulance Services attended and the body of a man was recovered
It follows a joint investigation by Greater Manchester Police and Trading Standards following reports of fraud at a funeral home in Ashton.
As part of that investigation officers raided four address earlier this morning (Monday 25th February) and arrested a 45-year old man and a 48-year old woman on suspicion of fraud, theft and preventing a lawful burial.
The pair remain in custody for questioning.
Detective Superintendent Debbie Dooley, of Greater Manchester Police’s Tameside District, said: “We are taking these reports very seriously, especially given the nature of the business and the potential sensitivities surrounding it.
“I appreciate this may cause some alarm in the community, but I would like to reassure people that we have launched a full investigation and we have a team of detectives dedicated to this case who are working alongside our partners in Trading Standards at Tameside Council.
