Police and ambulances attended and a 15-year old boy was taken to hospital with serious head injuries
Police were called to Milnrow Road at around 9pm after reports that a cyclist had collided with a black VW Golf close to the junction with Kathan Close.
It’s understood the bicycle was travelling in the same direction as the car when it collided with the driver’s side (offside).
The cyclist, a boy aged 15, suffered serious head injuries and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
The driver stopped at the scene.
No arrests have been made.
Milnrow Road was closed for five hours while emergency services dealt with the collision.
Police are appealing for information on the incident.
Constable John Harrison-Gough of Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This collision has left a boy fighting for his life in hospital.
“Our thoughts are with him and his family during this terribly difficult time.
“We’re appealing for anyone who saw the crash, has dashcam footage or any information to contact police immediately.
“Were you in the area at the time, or perhaps saw the car or bicycle shortly before the incident? If so, please get in touch.”
Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 4741 or the independent charity, Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
