This morning, (11th April 2019) Greater Manchester Police executed a number of warrants in the Hattersley area and arrested four men and a woman on suspicion of offences including kidnap, section 18 assault and drug-related offences.

Today’s arrests follow a kidnapping in Hattersley on 8th September 2017 when a man was taken in a vehicle and seriously assaulted.

There is an increased presence of officers from the local team out providing reassurance in the area and anyone with concerns should feel free to speak to them directly.

Chief Superintendent Neil Evans, Territorial Commander for Tameside, said, “Tackling organised crime is a priority for GMP and today’s activity is part of our ongoing work.

Working alongside the local authority, we are determined to bear down on organised crime for the benefit of local communities and to make Tameside as safe and peaceful a place to live as possible.”

Anyone with any information relating to organised crime including illegal money lending, drug distribution, firearms and criminal exploitation should call the police on 101 or report their concerns anonymously using the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
