Detectives investigating the rape of a woman in Oldham during the early hours of Friday 5th April have issued a description of a man they want to talk to in connection with what happened.

It was shortly before 2.35am when police were called to Huddersfield Road in Oldham to reports that a woman had been raped.

The offender is described as a dark-skinned Asian male, with a black moustache and aged between 22 and 25. He had a small build with a slender physique and is described as being taller than 5ft 3 inches tall.

At the time of the incident it is believed he was wearing a coat.

The woman in her 30s is being supported by a specialist team of officers.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Constable Paul Brereton, of Greater Manchester Police’s Oldham district, said: “This is a horrendous offence - and one which we are taking extremely seriously.

“My thoughts remain with the woman as she begins to recover –both physically and mentally – from this horrific ordeal.

“We have a dedicated team of officers working hard to piece together exactly what has happened and at this stage also believe the victim’s car key was taken.

“I would appeal to local members of the community to jog their memories back. Were you around the area at the time of this incident? Did you see anybody acting suspicious? If so, please come forward and speak with officers at the earliest opportunity.”
