Teenager charged with attempted murder and rape

Detectives investigating the stabbing of a teenager in Openshaw have charged a 17-year old boy with attempted murder, rape and possession of an offensive weapon.
It was at around 9.25pm on Saturday (4th May) when officers were called to reports that a 16-year old girl had been stabbed at a property on Greenside Street.
She was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A 17-year old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was later arrested and has now been charged.
He’s been remanded in custody to appear at Manchester & Salford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday morning (7th May).
A 17-year old girl who was arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder has been bailed pending further enquiries.
