One man arrested after armed police swoop on shop

Armed Police have rushed to the scene after reports of a man with a gun outside a supermarket in Tameside on Tuesday afternoon (7th May).

It was at around 12.30pm when reports first came in of someone at the Tesco Express Supermarket on Oldham Road in Ashton armed with a gun.

That lead to armed police rushing to the scene.

Once there they searched the area for the weapon but nothing has been found.

One man has been arrested on suspicion of assault, he remains in custody for questioning.
