Another successful Choral Speaking Festival

Oldham’s Coliseum theatre was packed with children as choirs from across the town came together for the Presentation Morning on Wednesday 1st of May.
This followed on from the 35th Annual Festival organised by the Rotary Club of Oldham Metro on the 19th, 21st and 22nd of April.
The festival brought together over 2300 pupils and for this ‘best of the best’ event there were 11 groups and 406 youngsters.
The Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Shadab Qumer, officially opened the Oldham Primary Schools' Choral Speaking Festival presentation morning, which was held at the Coliseum Theatre.
Trophies were presented by Past District Governor Rotary District 1285 Stan Bowes,Rachelle Carter & Amelia Clayton, form our Sponsors Madeleine Lindley Books, John Cleary Originator of the Festival, Acting Chief Executive Oldham Coliseum Theatre Susan Wildman, Jack Wild President Oldham Metro Rotary Club, Adrian Calvert from the Directorate of Education and Skills & Early Years, Oldham MBC Ann Warr Adjudicator.
Master of Ceremonies, Mel Farrar said, “This is the best presentation morning ever with brilliant performances across the board. Bringing the choirs together at this event enables them to see other outstanding choirs and aim even higher. A special feature this year was the presentation of the new Ann Warr trophy reflecting the tremendous positive impact on the Festival made by our international Adjudicator Ann Warr over recent years.”
