Oldham pair charged following carjacking and burglary

Two men from Oldham have appeared before Magistrates charged in connection with a carjacking in Prestwich and a burglary in Swinton which saw another car taken.

33-year old Colin Gibson, of Furness Avenue, Oldham, has been charged with robbery and burglary.

While 21-year old Leon Eckersley, of Holden Street, Oldham faces charges of robbery, burglary, theft, dangerous driving and driving whilst disqualified.

Both men were remanded in custody and appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Monday (27th May).

The charges are in connection with incidents at around 11pm on Thursday (23rd May) when police were called to reports of a carjacking on Duckworth Road in Prestwich.

At around 2.30am on Wednesday (22nd May), police were called to reports of a burglary on Clifton Road in Swinton where a car was stolen.

Both cars have since been recovered.
