Teenage girl raped in ‘horrendous attack’

Detectives have launched an investigation and are appealing for the public’s help after a teenage girl was raped during the early hours of Friday morning (31st May).
It was at around 3.45am when the 17-year-old girl left Lola Lo bar on Deansgate Locks in Manchester city centre.
She spoke to a number of people outside the bar, before getting into a dark coloured Vauxhall being driven by a man who offered to take her to a nearby taxi rank.
The teenager got out of the car in the Chester Road area of Trafford and the driver followed her. He then got out of the vehicle, pursued the teenager on foot and raped her in the Salford Quays area.
A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and released under investigation.
The girl is being supported by specially trained officers and enquiries are ongoing.
The offender is described as black and of a skinny build, around 5’ 7” with a southern or London accent. He is described as having a hair line which is far back on his head and his eyes are quite far apart.
Detective John Seaton of Greater Manchester Police’s Trafford District, said: “We have been doing everything we can to identify the person responsible for this horrendous attack and we are now appealing for the public’s help.
“There were many people in the Deansgate Locks area around 3.45am in the early hours of Friday, so if you think you might have any information- or if you saw the dark coloured Vauxhall in the area then please get in touch with police.
“Whatever information you have, please call us immediately.”
