Environmental issues will be highlighted at this year’s legendary Saddleworth Show to be held on Sunday, June 30 at the popular Well-i-Hole Farm Site, which overlooks magnificent views of Saddleworth moorland.

With large areas of the community decimated by fire recently, the show organisers have planned an area of the Showground dedicated to the environment and its protection with the hope it will increase awareness in the environment and create interest.

There will the “Bogtastic” van with interactive displays for children and their parents to learn more about the living moors landscape which is home to plants, shy wildlife and spectacular birds.

The RSPB and National Trust have been invited to provide displays and information supported by the enthusiastic Dovestones Junior Rangers.

And Dovestone WI will be attending and underpinning the show’s theme of Protecting Our Environment.

The WI hope visitors will gain an understanding of their new Countryside Safety Marshal Scheme, and to also encourage community involvement.

Their marshals  will be on hand to talk about this scheme which has been supported by the emergency services and leading naturalist,  Sir David Attenborough, who applauded and congratulated their plan for the Saddleworth community.
