Rochdale woman sentenced after death of a toddler

A woman from Rochdale has been sentenced to five years in prison after the death of 22-month old Ella Rose Clover last year (Sunday 21st January 2019).

36-year old Sharleen Hughes from College Bank Way, Rochdale, was found guilty of causing or allowing the death of a child and two counts of perverting the course of justice, she was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court today (Wednesday 5th June 2019).

30-year old Michael Wild from Shevington Gardens in Wythenshawe, Manchester was found guilty of the murder of 22-month-old Ella-Rose Clover and was sentenced today (Monday 3rd June 2019) at Liverpool Crown Court, to life in prison and will serve a minimum of 20 years behind bars.

Enquiries found that Wild had abused Ella-Rose on several occasions, inflicting blows to her abdomen and leaving her requiring surgery.

Ella-Rose was rushed to hospital by paramedics after suffering from a medical episode but despite the best efforts of paramedics the toddler tragically passed away.
