Two arrested after cute puppy is stolen from Oldham house

Poppy the dog is back in safe hands

Two men have been arrested in Oldham after a burglary on Wednesday afternoon (5th June) saw a puppy taken before the offenders fled the scene, climbing onto a roof of a building in the town centre and staying there for two hours.

Greater Manchester Police say the 10-week old Shih-Tzu puppy was taken during a burglary at a house on Gorton Street in Chadderton.

The men then fled the scene, using the Metrolink to go to Oldham King Street where officers were waiting for them.

Following a short chase, the men then climbed onto the roof of Koffee Kingdom on Foundary Street and refused to come back down.

Negotiations began between the two men and police, lasting two hours, before they finally came down and were arrested.

Two males, aged 25 and 24 are currently in custody awaiting interview after being held on suspicion of burglary, the 25-year old was also wanted for six other offences.

Greater Manchester Police posted about the incident on their GMP Chadderton Facebook page and confirmed Poppy has now been returned safe and well to her rightful owner.
