Happy go lucky visitors took a joyous trip to the seaside ... without ever leaving the hills of Saddleworth.
And the remarkable efforts by the dedicated fund-raising team - Friends of Diggle School (FODS) - who organised the fete have netted more than £4,000 profit for the school.
The fete, themed as “Diggle on sea” by the organisers, offered a wider variety of delights and drew record crowds.
Tracy Buckley, a spokesperson for FODS said: “The fete was a real all-village affair involving local businesses and other interested parties. We encouraged everyone to take part and enjoy themselves.
“There were games, stalls with prizes to be won, raffle with big prizes, bottle stall, cake stall and arts and crafts.
“We had three large inflatables for the kids and a face painter. There were be lots of different presentations throughout the day such as the school choir, sports, dancing.
“Diggle Band played and an all-day cafe, bar, live music and a BBQ were popular.
“There was lots of fabulous things to see and do. The Morris men, a brilliant Punch and Judy show, lots of great live music as well as the school choir and band.
“The stalls were all a huge success with the most popular being Splat the teacher, The Human Fruit Machine and the coconut shy.”
