Teenager arrested after fight in Tameside street

A fight on a Tameside street involving a number of people has resulted in a teenager being arrested on suspicion of assault and public order offences.
Police were called to the Market Hall on Bow Street in Ashton at around 4pm on Monday afternoon (24th June) following reports of a fight breaking out in the street.
Eyewitnesses have claimed as many as five police cars responded to the call and turned up at the scene.
A 17-year old boy was arrested on suspicion of assault and public order offences however the majority of those involved fled the scene before officers could get there.
In a statement Greater Manchester Police have said: “We were called to reports of fighting around the Market Hall on Bow Street.”
“Everyone involved dispersed but a 17-year old was arrested for public order and assault.”
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
