Actor Mark Jordon
A court has heard how Oldham actor Mark Jordon "lost his temper" and "bit a man" following a row in a beer garden.
He is accused of attacking Andrew Potts in Oldham last year - while he was celebrating his engagement to his parter and fellow-Emmerdale actor, Laura Norton.
The 54-year-old denies affray, unlawful wounding and assault by beating.
It's alleged the row was sparked by comments made by the victim's partner about Mr Jordon's daughter and a man she was with.
The court heard how Mr Jordon was "clearly intoxicated" and getting increasingly angry.
CCTV footage played in court showed Mr Jordon being held back.
The court also heard how Mr Potts also punched and kicked Mr Jordon, before being moved away.
Mobile phone footage showed the actor then approaching the couple a short time later.
The prosecution allege the former Heartbeat star then bit Mr Potts on his face and thumb.
The court heard that Mr Jordon told police Mr Potts had called his daughter "a slag".
The prosecutor said Mr Jordon's response was "well above and beyond what was reasonable in the circumstances", asking the jury to consider whether he was acting in self-defence.
The trial continues.
