They are launching a novel Inaugural Saddleworth Oktober "Pie" Fest on Saturday, October 12 at the Civic Hall, Uppermill.

And they are promising  fun-loving supporters a fantastic evening of beer food and music which will climax with the "Best Pie in Saddleworth" award ceremony, decided by their  special guest judging panel.

Tickets cost £20 and include a free Stein and your first German beer, with entertainment from the Jägermaestros,  Manchester’s alternative German oompah band and of course, the UK bit... pies!

And local businesses are already gearing upto enter their own most prestigious pies into a competition for “Best Pie.”

The  categories are:  pubs and restaurants, cafes and bakeries and caterers - all judged by a panel of seasoned industry experts on the night.

Saddleworth Round Table’s Andrew Butterworth said: “We are already inviting businesses  to submit pies  and it looks like we’ll be spoilt for choice...

“There will also be an ‘individuals’ category with top prizes up for grabs.

“If you’d like to submit a pie into the competition, please contact Saddleworth Round Table on Facebook or Twitter and come and join the fun.

“Tickets are selling fast so hurry if you want a part of what is sure to be a superb night of entertainment!

“ Incidentally, Lederhosen encouraged,” he added with a smile.
