Fundraisers take Alexandra Park for Dr Kershaw's Colour Blast

Date published: 21 August 2019

Hundreds of Hospice fundraisers are set to descend on Alexandra Park on Sunday 22nd September for the most colourful event of the year, Dr Kershaw’s Colour Blast – Back to the 80’s.

Amongst those diving into the multi-coloured mists of paint around the 3K route is Diana Award winner, Keira Arnold, who currently raises funds for ‘Keira’s Wishes’ at Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.

Keira has already raised over £14,000 for her fund which fulfils last wishes at the Hospice, and she’s got sights set on a trio of fantastic fundraising on 22nd September.

After the colourful capers of Colour Blast, the party will continue at The Coach and Horses, Huddersfield Road, as participants let their hair down in memory of Keira’s dad, Stephen.

Having washed all of the many colours of powdered paint from her hair, Keira will be chopping 12 inches of her curly locks off.

Not only is Keira raising funds for patient care at the Hospice, she will be donating her locks to The Little Princess Trust who providing real hair wigs to children and young people with hair loss.

About the haircut, Keira said, “Other people are so kind doing different things to raise funds so I decided to give myself a challenge and I know it is going to a good cause helping other children, while still raising funds for people in my own community.

“I’m kind of nervous because I do like my long curly hair. I will miss my hair being long especially when I am dancing and I do hair whips.

And in preparation for Colour Blast and her notoriously colourful clothing, Keira commented, “I can’t wait, I love Colour Blast, getting together with friends and family and being covered in colourful paint, the more the better! This year I will be combining the unicorn and 80's to go with their year’s theme.”

Join on Sunday 22nd of September 2019 as we ‘Go Back to the 80’s’ for this year’s annual Dr Kershaw’s Colour Blast. Bring your family, friends and workmates to the event that put their colour into your day and raises vital funds to look after patients from your community in our care at Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.

At your own pace, join hundreds of other Colour Blasters, to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Alexandra Park, to dive into the mists of 4 coloured paint stations, to emerge at the finishing line in a beautiful rainbow haze.

As well as getting involved with this amazing family fun day, we ask all our Colour Blasters to help support the care of patients at the Hospice by raising money through sponsorship.
