Free dementia communication course offered to carers in Chadderton

Date published: 26 September 2019

A free dementia communication course will be held in Chadderton to support family and friends of a person living with the disease.

The Empowered Conversations course, which is run by social enterprise Six Degrees, takes a different approach to communication in dementia care that is designed to help people living with dementia and their carers to find ways to stay connected, handle emotional stress and navigate the day together.

Empowered Conversations trainer Emma Smith said: “If you’re a friend, relative or carer of a person living with dementia, this free dementia communications training gives you time to pause, reflect and find new ways to reconnect with loved ones with dementia.”

The full course is six sessions that will be held from 1pm-3.30pm on Wednesdays, October 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 and November 6 at Broomwood Community Wellbeing Centre, Mainwood Road, Timperley (WA15 7JU), and at Christ Church, Block Lane, Chadderton.
