Diggle fundraisers are celebrating a block-busting cash windfall from generous well-wishers who supported Macmillan’s world’s biggest coffee morning.
The ‘totaliser’ of the group's varying takings over the years points to £1500 for this year and organisers say it was "absolutely amazing" given the dreadful weather on the day.
This year’s total takes the group to over £20,000 raised in the village since launching in 2005.
Said a spokesperson: "We couldn’t run the event without our team of helpers who this year totalled 20, and who give up their day to wash up, pick up, run stalls and just turn up with such great enthusiasm and determination and turn their hand to anything.
“Every year we are supported by business in Diggle and surrounding areas and are humbled by the generosity of their donations.
"We couldn’t do it so successfully without them.”
This year, the group were joined by Rose Tipton, Macmillan’s Fundraising Manager for Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport & Tameside.
