Manchester United will take on Liverpool at Old Trafford stadium this weekend (20th October) and GMP have issued safety advice ahead of it.
GMP’s commander for the match, Superintendent Graeme Openshaw, said, “Sunday afternoon will see Manchester United host Liverpool at Old Trafford stadium for what is expected to be a hugely competitive match with around 3000 away fans travelling to Manchester.
“In the build up to the game we have worked closely with both clubs and fans to ensure that everyone attending the game can do so safely
“On match days there are usually a lot of people using Manchester’s transport links, and areas around the ground – as well as parts of the city centre- will be busier than usual so we recommend that people plan their journeys accordingly.
“We’re here to make sure you all enjoy the game in a safe yet enjoyable environment and officers and stewards will be around prior to and after the match to make sure the day passes without issue.
“As always thank you for your cooperation as carry out our policing operation.
“Calls can be made to 101 at any time and in an emergency, always call 999.”
