The helicopter landing at St. Joseph's in Shaw
Children had a nice surprise when a helicopter landed on their school playing fields at St. Joseph's R C Primary School in Shaw.
The Puma Army helicopter landed on Friday morning after arranging permission for a special visit.
It was flown by pilot Andy Green, who is from Oldham.
He rang Deputy Headteacher of the school Steve Hill, at 8am in the morning, to say he was on manoeuvres and thought it would be a nice treat for the pupils, to give them a wave.
Steve told us: "This was a fabulous surprise for the children. I didn't tell them what was happening, but asked them to gather in the school playground.
"The helicopter hovered above the football field at about 10.15am and then circled.
"I know the pilot and I can't thank Andy enough, for giving the kids and techers a special treat.
"It's not something you see everyday in Oldham"
