Mum from Oldham labels current Saddleworth school as the 'worst' she's seen

On Monday night, leading Oldham councillors signed off on additional expenditure and the land transaction arrangements for a re-built Saddleworth School that will be located in Diggle.

The Oldham Evening Chronicle spoke to Jenny Eastwood-who's children attend the school, she said, "There was holes in the ceilings, the chairs were really poor quality and on a particular occasion a girl had gone to the toilet and she couldn't get back in because the door handle fell off in her hand.

"The heating's not working, they dont have showers in the P.E department- it must be affecting their education."

Jenny has seen the conditions of the current building first hand when she's  taught pupils in her role as an emotional well-being practioner.

Cabinet chiefs in Oldham have now agreed to spend millions more on the long-delayed new site in a decision made behind closed doors.

The £19m plans by the Education Funding Agency to relocate it from its current location in Uppermill to a purpose built new site- have been in the pipeline for more than a decade.
