All Raven wants for Christmas is a new home

Date published: 18 December 2019

The RSPCA Oldham & Bury branch are hoping to find a home for black and white cat- Raven- this Christmas.

Despite being available for adoption for 5 months, Raven has yet to find a new home.

This delightful 1 year old came to the RSPCA from a multi-cat household after the owner was struggling to cope with the number of pets at the property.

As a result of his hectic beginnings, Raven is quite a shy and reserved cat and as a result has been overlooked by potential adoptive parents.

However, thanks to the patient care from the animal centre staff, he is increasingly coming out of his shell and is building in confidence every day; he especially enjoys playing with catcher toys and eating treats and will bring much joy to a special owner.

Senior Animal Care Assistant, Naomi Hall, said, “Raven is such a sweet boy, it’s been sad for us all that he has yet to find a new home. Given his background, he took a while to acclimatise to the centre and this meant he would often hide when people came to view the cats up for adoption.

“Whilst he is very handsome, black and black and white cats such as Raven, tend to be harder for us to re-home overall. Regardless of their personalities, these “Tuxedo” cats tend to be less popular than the more colourful tabby and ginger cats we get in.

“Ideally, Raven would find a new home very soon. Although he is now settling at the centre, we think he will really open up and thrive in a more homely environment. We are hoping he will find an owner who has some experience of owning cats, and who will be patient and kind with him whilst he settles and builds his trust”.
