Children and staff at Moorside Stars Nursery in Oldham have been celebrating this week after receiving the Millie’s Mark award in recognition of the high quality and skills of their childcare practitioners.

The Millie’s Mark award is given only to those childcare settings that can prove they exceed the national requirements for paediatric first aid and care for children. Area Manager Kim Ratcliffe “I am so proud to be part of the Stars family” said Kim, “When I first met owners Tory and Rafael Fernandez I realised that their vision for childcare made Moorside Stars a truly special place where the children would always come first. Every child in our care is respected as an individual and our lives are dedicated to making each day at the nursery fun, safe, exciting and full of happiness”

Owner Tory Fernandez said “The national standard in childcare settings has for too long only required that one person on site to be qualified in paediatric first aid. This means that in many nurseries the person looking after a child may not have the knowledge to help them in a medical situation. Since we started Moorside Stars Nursery a year ago we have always ensured that every single member of staff receives full training so that all the children are always with a qualified person. Mille’s Mark is an award given to nurseries that can prove this level of care.”

This is the latest award for Moorside Stars in a recent string of high profile achievements. The nursery on Turf pit Lane in Moorside has also been recognised by The National Nursery Recognition Awards, who have acknowledged their high standards. Just a couple of weeks ago they were awarded “Best Newcomer”. They were up against thousands of nurseries across the UK and a judging panel made them the clear winners!

To be recognised for such a prestigious award is a credit to every member of staff, our parents and every child that attends Moorside Stars”

This week’s celebrations were topped-off with an exclusive Tea Party to celebrate all these huge achievements.
