Get your entries in for the Flower and Veg show!

Date published: 22 July 2020

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the Sholver and Moorside Community Team is unfortunately unable to stage its fourth annual Flower and Vegetable Show, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 15.

Therefore, the committee has decided that this year's event will go virtual.

A spokesperson said: "It's a shame we can't have our usual event which has been growing from strength to strength each year, but we still want to get our community engaged even if we can't physically put on the event.

"So here's a call for all growers, crafters, bakers and children to get involved, please!"

For all entries, you should email a photograph of your vegetable, bloom, home produce etc to: joyce5729.jw@gmail.com between August 1 and 14, 2020.

If you don’t have access to the internet or don’t have a suitable camera you are invited to ask a relative, friend or neighbour to take them – at a safe distance of course.

The spokesperson added: "During the period of the lockdown we know that lots of residents have been working hard in their gardens and enjoying the fine weather and may have discovered new found craft skills.

"So we ask you to check the show schedule for ideas of which classes to enter (maximum entry is two photos per individual per class). Entry is free.

"We also have a special class for entries from streets, community gardens, allotments and similar ventures."

There's one prize of a garden centre or Tesco voucher for winners of each class.

Winners in the children's classes will receive a Google Play voucher.

All entries and virtual winners will be posted on the Sholver and Moorside Community Team website and Facebook page.

Any queries, or if you would like to receive a show schedule, please contact Joyce Ward on 07890 501961, at the above email address or via Facebook Messenger.
