Employee's purse stolen during Oldham charity shop theft

Date published: 23 June 2021

A pair of callous thieves have stolen a Wii console and an employee’s purse from the Pennine Pen Animal Rescue charity shop in Oldham.

The pair – believed to be a man and a woman – went into the Brackley Square shop on Egerton Street yesterday afternoon (Tuesday), and stole the items while Retail Assistant Susan Kilgannon had her back turned.

Susan told the Chronicle: “I’m just so angry and so upset.

“How could anyone be so heartless as to steal from a charity shop.

“My purse was stolen so I’ve had to cancel all my cards.”

Police have been informed and are investigating.

Some CCTV footage is due to be reviewed later today (Wednesday).

Pennine Pen's rescue centre in Hathershaw was targeted two years ago by thieves, who ransacked the office on Honeywell Lane.

Meanwhile, the Chronicle reported how a callous sneak thief, using bolt cutters, stole a donation box from the Oxfam shop on Yorkshire Street in Oldham last month.
