Thieves ransacked the offices
Staff at the rescue centre, on Honeywell Lane in Hathershaw were called to the premises early this morning after being alerted by police.
Thieves had broken into the building, smashing windows and ransacking the office. Collection boxes and tombola prizes for upcoming fundraising events were stolen.
Staff shared details in a Facebook post this morning. "We are again in a position of having to repair damage to our premises caused by callous thieves and we seriously cannot afford to waste our money in this way."
Volunteers confirmed that the area which houses animals had not been broken into, and all were safe and unharmed.
Members of the public are being warned to look out for anybody posing as a representative of Pennine Pen, with a stolen collection box.
