Man charged following stabbing in Werneth

A 52 year old man has been charged
A man has been charged following a stabbing in Werneth which saw a man in his 20s sustain serious injuries.
Police were called to Oxford Street on Tuesday evening following a report of a stabbing.
Emergency services attended and a man in his 20s was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The man has since been released from the hospital.
Ian Lawson, 52, of Audax Walk, Manchester, has been charged with one count of attempted section 18 assault with intent to wound and possession of an offensive weapon.
He has been remanded in custody to appear Tameside Magistrates today.
Police believe this to be an isolated incident and enquiries are ongoing.
