Snow could be on the way again this weekend in Oldham

Date published: 03 December 2021

Oldham is set to return to freezing temperatures again this weekend, with a chance of more snow on high ground.

Oldham Chronicle weather expert, Jon Bayliss (@chadweather) says the last week has been a mixed bag - including 5cm of snow on Sunday, with heavy snowfall during the day.

"In fact Sunday, November the 28th was the coldest November day I have ever recorded with a maximum of +0.1C, almost an ice day." says Jon.

"What followed for the evening was light winds, clear skies and plummeting temperatures, aided by the snow-cover. It then turned out to be the coldest November night I have ever recorded too, at -6.3C; values that will take some beating in winter itself."

Jon is predicting colder temperatures again on the approach to the weekend.

Early showers today should clear to be replaced by cloudy conditions with some patchy rain or drizzle.

On Saturday, early rain replaced by bright spells and frequent wintry showers, falling as snow on the hills. Feeling cold in the gusty wind.

Sunday is expected to be windy but dry with sunny spells. That breeze will make it feel cold once again, and it'll become frosty after dark.
