Oldham Event Centre sold to FLG

Date published: 10 January 2022

The FLG (Fan Led Group) have purchased Oldham Event Centre Ltd (OEC) from former owners Simon Blitz and Danny Gazal.

The agreement means that Simon Blitz and Danny Gazal have relinquished their interest in the OEC business.

The FLG has been operating the OEC since May 2019, and is led by Paul Whitehead, Simon Brooke, and Eden Creative owner, Ric Dennis.

The news comes as the Organisational Learning Centre (OLG) - an education provider, with a focus on opportunities for the BAME community - has signed a ten-year deal to use a section of the OEC as their Oldham campus.

FLG Director Simon Brooke said: "As a group we are really happy to have purchased OEC Ltd from Simon And Danny. We have been running the business for some time and have produced some very promising results even through the challenges of Covid.

"These have included creating a matchday bar for over 200 fans each game; providing over £80,000 worth of free parking for the NHS through the Covid-19 crisis; donating equipment for Oldham Foodbank to enable the creation further Foodbanks at the start of the crisisl and giving Andy’s Man Club a cost-free home to help their work with Men’s Mental Health in the local community

"The purchase allows us to further develop the facility into a successful business. Part of this is the welcoming of OLC, who have made a substantial commitment to us.

"We have a number of further announcements to come and we look forward to sharing these developments with you over the coming weeks."

Details of the value of the deal have not been released.
