Stace hopes to help others with her blog
An Oldham woman who created a blog about her journey to overcome childhood abuse has seen thousands of visitors to her website from around the world.
Stace Don, who had a troubled upbringing in Oldham, began blogging last year to share her story, and to connect with young people who are experiencing the same.
When we spoke to Stace last year, shortly after beginning her blog, she told the Chronicle that she was keen to turn “negatives into positives” as she relives some of her childhood trauma.
“I want to help others show it’s ok to speak out, and it’s ok to not be ok. Victims are forced into a false sense of security through silence and anonymity so they are just surviving life.
“I want to share my story and show how victims can be failed over and over and left to feel isolated - whilst abusers offenders are often protected.”
Stace had shared her story so far on the blog, including some harrowing accounts of physical abuse at home, and bullying at school.

Since the end of last year, Stace has continued to share milestones, including documenting her experiences with social services and the court system.
Stace's blog has now received over 10,000 views online, with viewers logging in from around the globe.
"I'm amazed," Stace told the Chronicle. "My views are spread over 30 different countries, from the US to Australia, South Africa and beyond.
"I think it shows that these issues are universal. I'm delighted that so many people have taken the time to read my story and how it has affected my life."
“Anyone who can relate to anything I’ve written, please know that you will find happiness in yourself. It’s a difficult journey, but just allow yourself to control your own emotions and take that power. The life you live is yours and yours alone. Anyone who makes you feel like I have felt over and over are not worth the energy.”
