A teenager from Oldham was discovered to be in possession of a 'huge machete' on a tram in Manchester.
A post on the GMP City Centre Facebook page last night (Sunday) read: "This evening the GMP TransportUnit on OperationSycamore were conducting sweeps of the trams with our friendly sniffer dog.
"One male was identified and tried to run...didn't get far!
"He was searched and found in possession of a huge machete - now in custody."
GMP later confirmed that Kyle Church (aged 18), of Lees Road in Oldham, had been charged with possession of an offensive weapon.
He will appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on January 11, 2023.
