With a little help from Anthony’s friends

The cancer charity marathon included pool, darts and cribbage, and was staged at Diggle Band Club

A kind-hearted group held a novel fundraiser games marathon in memory of their friend Anthony Holden, who tragically died of pancreatic cancer, aged 52.

The event was organised by Mr Holden’s nephew, Stephen Hewitt, and two of Anthony’s friends, Scott Longley and Diggle Band Club committee member Andy Redfern.

The marathon included pool, darts and cribbage, and was staged at Diggle Band Club.

On the day, their enthusiastic efforts raised £700, which was match funded by the Dernly brothers of Fan Dynamics LImited, boosting the total to £1,400 for the pancreatic cancer charity.

Said Mr Hewitt: “Anthony was born in Diggle and was very popular with everyone.

"His death in 2018 was a real shock.

“The marathon included all age groups, and special thanks to Sarah Barlow of Pogson and Armitage for passing the funds on too.”
