Inspirational Ibby hits £10k fundraising target - again!

Date published: 05 November 2023

Oldham’s inspirational young fundraiser Ibrahim Yousaf, who is 17, has excitedly announced that he has again hit his £10,000 target for donations this year.

Just like the previous four years, 'Ibby' has hit his target again.

In a post on his X social media page, Ibby announced: "Wow! We did it, £10,000.

"As Captain of @TeamIbby, humbled once again like previous years to have hit our £10k target for this year, donating every £ to Oldham charities and local causes.

"Huge thanks to everyone, especially all members of #TeamIbby for once again #SupportingOldham."

Since the age of 12, Ibby has been using X (formerly Twitter) to raise awareness and funds for various charities despite his own severe health battle.

He has helped 14 Oldham charities and his hospital charity over the past five years.

The charities Ibby has helped over the five years include RMCH Charity, Maggie’s Oldham, Dr Kershaw’s, Mahdlo, Oldham Foodbank, Spoons, Ukeff, Oldham Street Angels, Action Oldham Fund, Real Change Oldham, TeamHill, TeamReel, Young Carers Positive Steps, OACT and Point Send.

Not only does he raise funds with his Team Ibby challenges, bake sales, auctions and gifts he gets, but each week he donates his pocket money to local charities and also supports individual fundraisers.

Every Eid Ibby donates all his money to local charities and has forgone his.last five birthdays, asking instead that money for presents and parties go to local charities that he supports.

Ibby has also received many local and national awards.

He is the youngest in Greater Manchester to have been honoured by the late HM the Queen.

In December, 2019, when aged only 13, he was awarded a BEM for services to the community of Oldham.

Responding to Ibby's latest fundraising news, Positive Steps posted on X: "WOW! Well done Ibby on hitting your yearly target of £10k funds raised for local causes and charities - which includes our #OldhamYoungCarers."

Dr Kershaw's Hospice added: "Well done again, Ibby."

Meanwhile, the Oldham Athletic Community Trust posted: "Great work Ibby! Thank you for all your support!

Vikki posted: "What an absolutely incredible amount to raise!

"Brilliant team captain rallying up the community to give back the community. Fabulous achievement.

"Proud to be an adoptive Oldhamer and proud of @sugs75 @TeamIbby!"
