Roary, Oldham Roughyeds' popular mascot, was joined by Dave Thomas (Yeds) when the club's hard-working Supporters’ Group went to a Higginshaw youth section training session to donate a supply of rugby balls which other junior clubs in the area had received previously.
“Everything about YEDS is positive,” said Dave, “and it was a real pleasure to accompany Roary to Higgy.”
Meanwhile, legendary former Great Britain international Paul Sculthorpe has been confirmed as the guest speaker at Oldham’s second Networking Community Social later this month.
The double Man of Steel winner grew up in Oldham and went on to win four Grand Finals, four Challenge Cups and two World Club Challenges with St Helens in a trophy-laden career.
A passionate supporter of Oldham, its community and local businesses, Sculthorpe will join host George Riley to explain how moments, experiences and people from his playing career have helped shape his post-rugby days in business.
Our first event in February saw over 40 new and existing partners share leadership advice and contacts alongside a fascinating talk from England rugby union international George Ford, who offered valuable insight from his own career into the parallels between teamwork and relationship building within an elite sporting environment and business.
The Oldham RLFC 1876 Networking Community Social brings together our local business community with a guest speaker every final Monday of the month at Boundary Park.
