Spark Oldham is based at a community space on Tanhill Lane
Spark Oldham CIC, a community‑focused organisation dedicated to boosting mental wellbeing, youth development and volunteer engagement across Oldham, hosted a warmly-received business lunch with representatives from local companies keen to explore partnership opportunities.
Held at Spark’s community space on Tanhill Lane, the lunch brought together leaders from diverse sectors to learn more about Spark's breadth of programmes - from holiday activity schemes and women’s groups to baby‑boogies, young leader initiatives and anti‑poverty projects.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive.
Local business partners expressed deep admiration not only for the range and ambition of Spark’s initiatives, but also for the authenticity and power of the lived-experience shared by staff and volunteers.
The event was described by business owners who attended the event as 'inspirational', 'uplifting' and 'a testimony to the lives that Spark are changing'.
Kim Rogers, Spark Oldham’s founder, said: “It’s been a privilege to hear from businesses who see the value in truly investing in our community, and hearing the uplifting stories from the team who dedicate their time to transforming lives.”
The lunch also opened new avenues for collaboration.
Several companies pledged support through volunteering time, offering in-kind donations, and funding specific projects at spark.
These include backing holiday programmes, volunteering at our corporate volunteer days and paying £200 per young person to sponsor them.
Spark Oldham operates with a people‑and‑community‑first approach, actively listening to local voices and tailoring programmes to meet their needs.
The organisation has grown rapidly since its launch in 2023 and recently achieved the Quality in Action award for its excellence in safeguarding and accountability.
They are also finalists in the Oldham young business of the year award.
This business lunch marks a key milestone in Spark’s journey, cementing important alliances that will support sustained growth and enhanced impact across Oldham.
