Popular Oldham pub, the Famous King George, has reopened following a huge six-figure investment, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the popular Craft Union pub.

The pub has served the people of Oldham for centuries.

Previously known as The Noggins in the 1700s, the pub was rebuilt after World War I and renamed the Famous King George, reflecting the nation’s patriotic sentiment at the time, with the pub still standing strong at the heart of the community in the present day.

The Oldham pub has undergone a full interior refurbishment, transforming it with a fresh new look and feel.

Alongside the stylish revamp, a refreshed drinks menu blends much-loved favourites with exciting new additions.

Bringing a renewed sense of comfort, the popular pub now features a brand-new state-of-the-art audio-visual sound system to provide the pub with its best sound yet, perfect for the venue’s live entertainment and in time to host the return of the Premier League recently.

Perfect for live sport, the refurbishment has led to the installation of a new range of HD TVs throughout the pub, set to provide the people of Oldham with one of the best sport watching experiences in the area.

To further enhance the sports’ viewing experience, The Famous King George has upgraded its amenities with new Sky Q boxes, allowing it to show Sky, Sky Sports+, TNT Sports and even sport on Amazon Prime.

The refurbishment has introduced fresh décor that creates a warmer, more welcoming atmosphere, while the bar now serves a new range of great-value beers – with beers like John Smith’s starting from just £2.75 a pint.

As part of the investment, the addition of multiple HD TVs means guests can now watch several matches or different sports at the same time, cementing the pub as the go-to spot for sport in the area – especially with Latics' return to the EFL expected to draw big local crowds.

The refurbishment also includes a new pub sports area, giving locals the chance to channel their inner Luke Littler with a brand-new dartboard.

The new pool table means guests can enjoying playing a game of pool while enjoying a great-value pint.

The Oldham pub boasts a new selection of beers, ciders and wine, all at some of the most competitive price points in the area, as well as an extensive offering of no and low alcohol beverages, ensuring all guests are accommodated to.

Situated near walking spots, well-behaved dogs are welcome throughout, with this popular venue being a favourite among guests stopping by for a pint with their pet.

Ashleigh Shang, Operator of the Famous King George on Hollins Road, said: “We’re so excited to welcome back both familiar and new faces to the renovated Famous King George.

"Our goal is to offer the best pub sports experience in the area, and we can’t wait to see guests enjoying all the new features we’ve been working hard on behind the scenes.

“With a packed events schedule and great-value drinks, there’s always something to enjoy here.

"This six-figure investment has allowed us to create a warmer, more inviting space for the whole community – and I’m sure our guests will love it.”
