Community champions Saddleworth Rotary Club brought a special glow when they supported the Light Up Lydgate annual event.

The club donated £150 towards the cost of holding the event, which in addition sees the local Christmas Tree lit up and gave local children the opportunity to see Santa Claus and receive a selection box gift.

The gathering was delighted to be entertained by the children’s choir from the nearby St Anne’s Lydgate School.

The event was well attended as usual, but members of the Saddleworth Rotary Club came along to run a small raffle and generally add to the festivities.

Any money made from the raffle or from any donations at the event goes to the Charity Trust to help charitable organisations locally or some further afield supported by Rotary.

Saddleworth Rotary Club are also interested in making local people more aware of what they do in supporting local events and helping local charities, something the club has been proud to do for more than 50 years.

The club is always looking for new local people who might want to help achieve its aims and they are actively looking for new members to engage with them in supporting the local community.
